Two year old idea I finally got done. :’) I’d planned it for May, because mermay, but work got in the way, and then I hoped to do it in June but nope. Ah well, at least it’s done.

Models have finally come to agreement about the location of the landfall, which is currently forecast around the Lisbon area, or perhaps slightly north as some models suggest. Hurricane force winds are expected at landfall.
A HIGH RISK has been issued for parts of west, north and central Portugal and extreme W Spain with threat for extremely severe winds and excessive rainfall. Peak gusts could well exceed 150 km/h in western Portugal where Leslie is expected to make landfall.
MDT/ENH RISKS have been issued for surrounding areas of HIGH risk including whole Portugal and west-central Spain for extremely severe winds and excessive rainfall.
A SLGT RISK has been issued for areas surrounding the HIGH/MDT/ENH risks including north-central Spain, Gibraltar and SW France for extremely severe winds and excessive rainfall.
Know what I want more of in my fiction? “Nice Guy” villains. “Incel” villains. Villains who exhibit the most toxic aspects of current masculinity and culture and are shamed for it.
Like Tighten from Megamind.
I know it’s years old but this movie is still the best, especially because of the characterization of their villain. He receives a dozen soft no’s from Roxanne (the Lois Lane archetype), it’s suggested he’s been getting them for years, and he still pursues her even to the point of endangering her life. When he finally understands that her “no” is final, he throws a superpowered shit fit and tries to kill her and her actual love interest (Megamind) and televises it in a ploy to get sympathy (”a reminder of the night she ferociously ripped out my heart”). He has no concept of boundaries or consent, and it is shown for the vile behavior that it is.
And the thing is? I can’t remember another villain like him? Not anywhere. You could make an argument that Snape is a Nice Guy, but the narrative doesn’t criticize the behavior. To the contrary, his eternal love obsession with Lily is praised. Every character who comes even close to Tighten, ends up praised by the end. And I’m sick of it.
Quoting vines in Rome to see who responds. So far we have:
In the Colosseum, a tour guide was talking about who sat where and when they mentioned that the emperor and some other guy sat in one place, I said “And they were roommates!” And one of the girls on the tour said “oh my god! Zey ver voomates!” In a thick German accent before glaring at me.
And an alcove in the Vatican Museum with nothing in it and I quietly said “this bitch empty” and a British girl yelled “YEET” before realising her mistake and telling me to go fuck myself.
“Shh, it’s alright,” the villain said. “You’re doing beautifully and I’m so proud of you. But that’s enough now. It was cruel of them to make you fight me – you could never have won. It’s not your fault.”
The ancient and powerful villain may have had a calm and gentle face as he spoke, but he was furious, not at the hero, but the gods for continually sending kids and teenagers to fight their battles.
“We keep summoning and sending heroes but the villain just keeps adopting them, sir.”

Minding one’s own business needs to be a course in college…
This makes me sad. I grew up in a diverse area near the westcoast and I love casually hearing other languages. It makes me feel closer to the world and happy that they’re free to speak whatever language they want. This might sound weird, but whenever I hear them, it reminds me that strangers are real people with their own life and history. It’s a fact we easily forget. Language is such a huge part of who we are. I can’t imagine being forced to deny a part of my identity. To be told that I need to squish myself into their boxes or I’ll become the nail that needs to be hammered down. I hate this and I am so sorry this is happening to you.
If you move to an English speaking country, speak English, or better yet go back to the country that speaks your language and no one will say shit to you 🙆🏻♀️ the complete entitlement from immigrants when the loacals ask them to assimilate to their country. I wouldn’t go to Korea and cry like a baby because they told me to stop speaking English. Its expected I speak Korean. You people need to grow up .
While the United States is a predominantly English-speaking society, there is actually no official language. What would you say someone speaking an indigenous language? Also, the person who wrote these tweets speaks English? She was speaking Korean over the phone to her cousin in Korea. Do you expect her to speak in English to someone who might not speak it rather than a shared one because she’s in a public space in an “English speaking country”? Do you believe that everyone sharing a public space with you owes you something?
There’s a big difference between assimilation and integration and I don’t know how to tell you that assimilation is not a desirable thing.
Literally how the fuck are you going to call the victim entitled? They were having a private conversation and some fucking rando told her what language she could be speaking in a private fucking conversation that didn’t involve her at all. Gtfo.
You wanna knows whats funny, us portuguese actually dont mind talking to tourists in english in our own country, but to certain americans of a racist type they cant stand listening to a foreign language where they live.
